Awesome domain and hosting!

I just got my .COM domain and Linux Shared Hosting from BigRock and it's been fantastic! Everything was so easy to set up. I had my website live in no time. Their control panel is really user-friendly, even for someone who's not super technical. I'm so happy with how quickly everything went. Definitely coming back for my next project and telling all my friends about them. Super happy with my purchase!

Good VPS, some setup quirks

I bought a Linux KVM VPS for a new project last month. Ordering was straightforward on their website, although I did have a bit of trouble finding the exact configuration I wanted at first, the navigation could be a little clearer for specific VPS types. Delivery of the access details was pretty quick, I got the email within about 15 minutes. The server itself has been performing well, uptime's been solid. I did have to contact support once because my SSH key wasn't immediately recognized after the initial setup, but they responded within an hour and helped me sort it out. Quality seems decent for the price point, especially compared to some other providers I've used in India. It's not a managed service, which I knew, so you're on your own for most server ops, but that's fine for my needs. Overall, a good experience after the initial setup hiccup.

Decent value for first year

I picked up an .IN domain for 1 rupee for the first year, which was a pretty sweet deal. I also added some shared hosting with a first-year discount. The total cost for the first year was very competitive, making it a good entry point for getting my small business online without breaking the bank. I was a bit concerned about renewal prices after the discount, but for now, it felt like a worthwhile initial investment. The activation was fast too, so I could start building almost immediately. Overall, good value for money if you catch their intro offers.

Fast domain registration

Needed a new .COM domain quickly. Signed up, paid, and it was registered within minutes. Simple process. No issues with payment or activation. Domain privacy protection was easy to add too. Good service.

Finally switched my website to BigRock's WordPress Hosting from another provider. So far, speeds feel much snappier. Anyone else have good experiences with their WordPress plans?

N NikhilS 8 minutes ago ✓ Best Answer
Glad to hear that! I've been on their managed WordPress plan for about 6 months now and it's been pretty solid. Support is decent too when I've needed them.

Yeah, their support is actually quite responsive for WP issues.

Following this. My current host is getting slow and BigRock was on my list for WordPress hosting. Good to see positive feedback.

Curious about their uptime guarantee.

I used their shared hosting for a small blog and it was okay, but WordPress specific hosting usually makes a big difference. Heard good things about their WP offerings.

Definitely a noticeable difference for me.

Just renewed my .in domain and the price jumped quite a bit. Anyone else seeing higher renewal costs for BigRock .in domains lately?

C coolboy88 3 weeks ago
I usually just transfer out if the renewal gets too high. BigRock's transfer out process is pretty straightforward, at least.

Good point, I should look into that if it keeps happening.

Yeah, mine too! I thought it was just me. Went up by about 15-20% compared to last year. Kinda frustrating.

Did you try looking for renewal coupons? Sometimes they have those.

Same here, almost felt like a different domain registrar's pricing.

My .com domain renewal was pretty standard, no big jump. Maybe it's specific to .in domains or depends on how old the registration is?

Could be. Mine's an older .in one.

I heard .in prices are generally going up across registrars. Not just BigRock.

Hey, anyone know if BigRock offers a money-back guarantee on their hosting? Might try it but don't want to be stuck if it sucks.

D David L. 2 months ago
They do! I think it's for 30 days, so you have some time to test it out. Read the fine print though, some things might be excluded.

C Carly J. 2 months ago
Yep, 30-day money-back is standard for their shared hosting plans, I used it once a while back. Just contact support if you need to.

Thinking of moving my domain over to BigRock, how's their transfer process? Is it a pain?

N Nina Romero 1 month ago
Nah, it's pretty smooth. Just gotta make sure your domain is unlocked at the old registrar and you have the auth code. Took about a week for mine.

C Colin 1 month ago
Yeah, what that person said. The longest part was waiting for my old host to release it, BigRock's side was quick once I put in the info.

Found a coupon for shared hosting, but it says 'new customers only'. Does that mean if I already bought a .com from them, I can't use it for hosting?

J Julia 2 months ago
Probably. 'New customer' usually means new to ANY service, not just that specific one. Worth a shot contacting them, but don't get your hopes up.
3
K Kate 2 months ago
Yeah, my experience is if you have any active service with them already, you're not a 'new customer' anymore. Those first-year deals are strict.

What payment methods do they accept? Can I pay with UPI or just cards?

N Noor Z. 1 month ago
They take pretty much everything Indian, including UPI, Net Banking, and all major cards. Super easy.

J James 1 month ago
Yeah, I've paid with UPI before, no problem. All the usual debit/credit cards work too.

Is BigRock actually any good compared to GoDaddy? I've heard mixed things about both for Indian users.

T Tom Vargas 2 months ago
IMO, BigRock's support is a bit better and their pricing can be more transparent after the first year discounts. GoDaddy gets expensive fast.

P Phil 2 months ago
Depends what you need. For basic stuff, both are fine. BigRock often has better deals for .in domains, but GoDaddy has a bigger market share globally. I'd lean BigRock for India focus.

Does BigRock give free SSL certificates with their hosting plans, or do I have to buy one separately?

J James 2 months ago
For most of their shared hosting, you get a basic free SSL, usually Let's Encrypt. It's good enough for a personal site.
2
M Mike Patel 2 months ago
Yeah, they include it. You usually have to activate it yourself from the control panel, but it's not extra cost.
